I really like the book overall. It has lots of history, great color pictures and good maps. The restaurant recommendations are very good as well. The places I tried, I enjoyed. It has a good general level of information and also good overall tourist/travel kinds of tips. But I can only give it 4 stars as it lacks some of the details about travel specifics that the Rick Steve's book has. The two books are probably complementary in that regard. The restaurants between the two books are quite different and this book is more complete for shopping ideas. The Fodor's book is more broad and covers more topics, while the Rick Steve's guide is highly detailed in a more limited set of topics.

The Fodor's series is consistently good, and this edition is no exception. I find that Fodor's often will recommend a bit higher-end and better restaurants than the extremely popular Rick Steves series. One of the big problems with Steves' books is that not only are his recommendations a bit more on the backpacker and student end of the cost spectrum, but once a restaurant is recommended in his book, it is usually inundated with tourists, and the quality may suffer and be substantially below what it was when he first reviewed it.
I find that Fodor's is perhaps not as widely followed, and I was pleasantly surprised by the consistency of most of its recommendations. Also, the history/background that Fodor's provides is very good.
