Subtility , elegance and beauty this book has it allOct 06, 2010

A "Feast for the senses" is a total surprise to anyone who buys the book and spends the time to read, see and listen, it is most surprising approach to let the reader experience a truly unique voyage in a part of the world that is so rich with contrast and culture.
Umbria is a rare place where ancestral traditions matured into an elixir of miraculous sybaritic treasures. Few are the regions in the world that can count in its midst so much of what the world admire and cherish. Umbria is a haven to the soul and this book will certainly induce you to call your travel agent and fly there asap.
The photographies by Neil Folberg are arresting, Neil is the Rembrandt of photography, a total amazing master.
This book is a symphony of beautiful memories written by Lin Arison, a woman who knows and understand Artists, she is often their friends , benefactor but above all a fabulous story teller.

After reading "Travels with Van Gogh and the Impressionists", I waited with much anticipation for the release of "Feast for the Senses". Accompanied by exquisite photography, I was engaged in this "Musical Odyssey in Umbria" from the first page through the last DVD. I highly recommend this quick read to music, art and culinary lovers. You can feel the adventure and passion through each page in an original but unique collaboration of mediums that touch the senses. An excellent coffee table book and reminder of how much beauty lives within art, spirit and body.

The book and accompanying DVD's are more than a wonderful experience. Lin Arison's flowing writing and superb photographs by Neil Folberg carry one along on a magical journey through the romantic settings of Umbria. They encourage you to feel the locations, taste the foods and drink the wines along with the musicians from the New World Symphony of Miami accompanied by Michael Tilson Thomas where he is the founder and artistic director. And the DVD's, so rare in a book, are treasures in themselves: a rehearsal by Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony and then their dynamic performance, passionate words and music by the youths of the New World Symphony, and an intelligent interview between Tilson Thomas and world renowned architect Frank Gehry as they introduce us to the exciting new Miami center in construction that the youth of the New World Symphony will occupy. This book is special.
